Bio

I feel like I’m living the dream. This isn’t my first career. My first career was as a mother, and my second career was working as an environmental geologist here in northern Illinois. Then in midlife, after the kids had grown and moved out, I went back to school to completely change careers.

I have a Master’s degree in acupuncture and oriental medicine and have been working as an acupuncturist in the northwest suburbs of Chicago for 6 years. And I passionately love what I do.

I am committed to helping you achieve your health goals, whether it’s managing chronic illness or acute injury or pain. It’s important to me that you feel heard, and that we communicate with each other so I can adjust my treatments to fit what your body needs.

This medicine is simply about balancing what is out of balance. It’s about using acupuncture to nudge your body to do what it innately knows how to do: heal itself.

In my practice I strongly believe that patients who participate in their own health get healthier faster. So when you come to see me I will often suggest nutrition, exercise and other general lifestyle changes to support you in better managing your own health. I also use essential oils in my practice, and can make suggestions for you on how you might be able to use them for your own health issues. I am board certified in Chinese herbs, and have found that since essential oils come from many of the exact same plants that we use in Chinese herbal medicine, these can be profoundly helpful for many health issues.

When I’m not running my practice, I am a part-time faculty member at National University of Health Sciences in the Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine department, and spend as much time as possible with my awesome husband, Jim. We have 4 grown children, 1 adorable grandson, and a black lab named Kyra.
